When Lisika Unite Foundation started in Ramokgopa village, Limpopo, South Africa in March 2017 then registered on 12 October 2018 with DSD number: 216-700NPO and all our energies went into building an organization from scratch to a stable position where the organization now delivers high quality humanities based literacy programs for pre-school and primary school children aged (3–12-year-old) and their parents/ guardians. Lisika Unite is also a registered public benefiting organization with PBO number: 930065009.

The challenges seemed overwhelming, but sustained and focused energy helping under-resourced, economically, and educationally vulnerable children conquer these challenges, really is making a difference - even if it is one “starfish” at a time. Lisika Unite Foundation founders and manager, wanted to create a culture of reading (functional literacy), being real, following passions and being a part of the change. Because there is more to business than just doing business. And so, our non-profit organization evolved.
In the first six years since its inception Lisika Unite Foundation became a beacon of literacy inspiration in the Limpopo and part of KwaZulu Natal provinces. It played major role in the transformation of the lives of children in the underserved rural preschool and primary schools through our high-quality humanities-based literacy programs.
In the Hotspot library program, Lisika Unite Foundation partnered with African Library Project (based in the USA), the partnership creates libraries in primary schools of Limpopo and South Africa in general. To date have created many libraries, distributed over 187000 children story books. Partnership also trains teacher to be librarians, so they can be able to manage their libraires. While Lisika Unite provide them with mentorship.
At Lisika we believe in giving power to families, because families are children’s first teachers and if parents share interest in their children’s education and reading to them, this will change our world. That is why Lisika Unite Foundation as an agent of change, established partnership with Early childhood development centres, primary schools, government, cooperates, and other organization to ensure that we build a functional literate society.
Lisika Unite Foundation is currently working with trained teacher librarians and donated furniture, toys, play mats, and printers to Early Childhood Development centres. We have also visited families and established reading clubs.
